Projects and Activities
Through community engagement, tourism promotion, and business support, the Colonial Beach Chamber of Commerce activities foster a thriving ecosystem by strengthening local connections, attracting visitors, and driving economic growth in the community.
- Publication and Distribution of 27,000 Colonial Beach Visitors Guides
- Social Media Advertising for Events and Member Businesses
- Development of the Chamber Education Curriculum
- The Annual Colonial Beach Chamber of Commerce Awards Celebration and Dinner
- Updated Accounting and Electronic Information Systems
- Relocated office to North Irving Avenue
- Recruited new businesses and held ribbon cutting ceremonies
- Added a part-time Office Assist to expand winter office hours to T-F, 10:00am-3:00pm and summer office hours to M-F 10:00am-3:00pm
- Coordinating and Collaborating with Town Offices, Town NGO’s, Northern Neck Tourism, and Virginia Tourism Corp
- Grant Writing and Application to Virginia Tourism Corp
- Continuous updates to the Colonial Beach Chamber of Commerce Website
- Improved the Colonial Beach Bike Fest Website
- Provided $2,000 in Scholarships to Colonial Beach High School Students
- Economic Development Commission actively participated in VEDA/GO Virginia/VIDA/RDCI/COMREL/ Mary Washington University workshops, Washington Square food truck program
- Collaborated with Colonial Beach High School to develop an Apprenticeship Program and held kick-off meeting
- Incorporated the Alzheimer’s Walk into Bike Fest and was a platinum sponsor
- Actively supported and sought not charging parking fees during “off-season” with Town of Colonial Beach
- Obtained sponsorships for free Trolley rides
- Revised the How to do Business in Colonial Beach booklet
- Disseminated Westmoreland County’s Sherriff Departments Business Watch Program to all members
- Contributed to the Town of Colonial Beach Strategic Plan Goals and Objectives for 2023-2025
- Actively involved in the new Community Heart and Soul Program
- Actively involved in the Town of Colonial Beach new signage group
- Developed, compiled results, and acted upon top responses to a member survey
