Terry Fox
Office Manager
Terry Fox was originally hired as our Event Coordinator in the Spring of 2021. She moved to Colonial Beach from Columbia, South Carolina in June, 2019 after retiring as a Program Manager, Office of Legal Education, Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys, Department of Justice. She graduated from La Plata High School and attended the University of South Carolina. As a child she also lived in the PA Allegheny mountains. Terry is an avid NASCAR fan and enjoys music, cooking, yoga, reading, crocheting, and spending time with family and friends. When asked why she chose to live in Colonial Beach and work at the Chamber she answered, “I was skipping school the first time I was here and as an adult frequently rented cottages on the weekends with friends. I’ve always enjoyed my time here, needed to be closer to my Momma, have fantastic memories of this town, and thought it would be the perfect place to live. After settling in, I realized I needed to do something besides have fun, relax and sleep – so I applied for a part-time job, close to home, which would allow me to support this little beachy sunshine town that I love, justly named the Playground on the Potomac. My grandchildren, family and friends all love visiting now as well.”

Melinda Rice
Event Coordinator/Administrator
Melinda lives on and manages her farm in Maryland but her love for Colonial
Beach led her to buy a cottage in town five (5) years ago, where she spends much
of her Summer enjoying everything the town has to offer. Melinda graduated
from Southern Senior High School in Anne Arundel County and attended
Yorktown Business Institute after graduation. She has held administrative/office
positions throughout her career, all involving direct interaction with the
community. Melinda also held a commercial crabbing license and commercial
gillnet license for nine (9) years and spent quite a bit of time on the Potomac
River. Melinda’s hobbies are repurposing furniture, photography and DIY home
projects. She has a booth in the Peddler’s Market and an eBay store online. She
recently retired after 21 years as the Secretary/Treasurer for the Charles County
Farm Bureau where she also was in charge of planning their events, trips,
meetings and legislative gatherings. For the past four (4) years, Melinda has
volunteered at most of the Chamber’s events, known as the “cookie lady” at the
Fall and Winter events and unofficial photographer as well. So when this position
became available, Melinda expressed that it seemed like the perfect fit to further
represent Colonial Beach and share everything it has to offer.
